Cary Chan – General Manager, Technical Services and Sustainability, Swire Properties Limited DSC2428-1Chan a professional engineer and is currently responsible for overseeing the sustainability policies and strategies for Swire Properties. Over the years, he has carried out a lot of researches and energy saving initiatives with substantial improvements in energy performance of buildings.  Some of his work has won international awards, which includes Low Carbon Operation, Client of the Year award by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in 2010. Achieved ASHRAE Technology Award twice. Mr Chan is also active in serving the professional and business communities with his expertise. Mr Chan initiated the “Tsinghua University – Swire Properties, Joint Research Center for Building Energy Efficiency and Sustainability” to enhance and to promote the practice of integrated design and management for sustainable buildings especially within Hong Kong and Mainland China. He is currently a Director of HK Green Building Council, Business Environment Council and the BEAM Society Ltd.  Cary also chairs the Policy and Research Committee which is to drive for the enhancement in the sustainable development performance of the industry. Cary is the Chairman of Environmental Education & Community Action Projects, a member of Environmental Campaign Committee and the Energy Advisory Committee.  He is also a taskforce member in the establishing of the Mandatory Building Energy Code for Hong Kong.   Liang Junqiang, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Promotion Center of MOHURD, Co-director of China – US Clean Energy Center on Buildings keynote3Liang Junqiang, male, was born in 1961,from Jiangsu province. He has joined in the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China after he graduated from Chongqing jianzhu University in 1983, and with a master degree in Engineering in 2000. He works on management of higher education on civil engineering and new materials application in building energy conservation. In addition to participating in establishing and organizing the implementation of the professional valuation of civil engineering and architecture of higher education in China, he was one of the main drafters of People’s Public of China Energy Saving Law and Energy Saving Regulations for Civil Constructions.
